Gods, Goddess & Deities

One thing that attracted me, personal, to Wicca was that it gives you free choice to choose who you wish to worship. With so many cultures and all of their deities, gods, and goddess; Wicca allows you to choose who you want to pray to as each deity rules certain things. And even things will most likely overlap in some way.

The choice however allows one to personalize their faith to what fits their lifestyle.
My bookshelf

This is a book (Encyclopedia of Spirits) that I own that gives brief descriptions of a large portion of the deities in many polytheistic practises but also some of their helpers such as spirits, faeries, ghouls. And no I have not read through the whole thing; the back of the book has an in index that breaks down areas of rule with names. Using the index I have read through areas of interest or need.

After rereading this I realized that this could be a little confusing so I’ll to simplify. The two main deities among Wiccan’s is The God and Mother Goddess beneath them is the deities which you chose.

For example, I often thank the Mother Goddess and Horned God for the world all they give me, spending a large portion of my time in forests and writing/mediating in candle light. I find these very relaxing but also honouring to them.
Shiva

But one of my main deities is the Egyptian goddess Isis aka ‘Queen of the Earth’, she the goddess of medicine and looked to solve problems, among many other things. Venus (Roman) is another Goddess that chose to worship were as I have a friend who chose Aphrodite (Greek) both of which are both love goddess . Hekate (Greek/Roman) is one of my go to’s for magik advice and Shiva (Hindu) brings wisdom to me in my times of troubles.

Hekate
This short of list of deities has three different cultures in place and that’s just some of them.

At least this is the form of Wicca that I chose to practice.

Some Wiccan chose to just worship the Mother Goddess and Horned God, others chose the multitude of deities disregarding the main two in belief that all Goddesses are the Goddess and all Gods are the God. Again it’s a Choice.

Let me know if you have any questions related to our divine and their assistants.

Blessed Be.
Dani.
